Thematic Webinar 2 - summary

The second thematic webinar on System/city-level examples of successful biowaste collection, processing and utilisation for energy and compost took place as planned on 23rd January 2024, hosted by CERCA.   

The webinar gathered experts from various European countries to delve into different strategies employed by municipalities to achieve effective biowaste management. Thus, presenters from Germany, Catalonia, Slovakia, Finland, and Italy guided attendees through their ideas and proposals to improve biowaste collection, and discussed good practices already being implemented and tested in their regions.  

The presentations spanned a wide array of topics, ranging from the role of cities and municipalities in waste management, to valorization of urban residual organic effluents or model-experiments for improving collection of biowaste, which resulted in a session that proved to be both informative and productive. In addition, it provided participants with a platform to exchange views and draw inspiration from the accomplishments of other institutions and agents of change, paving the way for them to apply similar approaches in their respective regions.
