Climate Change Discussions in Latvia

On May 29, a third-party event took place in Cēsis, focusing on the Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan for the Vidzeme region. The event addressed the pressing question of how climate change will affect Vidzeme and Latvia in the coming years and how different sectors can adapt to these changes.
Representatives from various sectors joined to identify future challenges and potential solutions in group discussions, aiming to enhance preparedness.
During the discussions, Toms Bricis, a well-known weather editor, outlined current and projected climate trends for Latvia, emphasizing increasing temperatures, more frequent heatwaves, and irregular precipitation patterns.
Eva Meijere, the CLIMATE project manager in the Vidzeme Planning Region, also attended the event. During the discussions she highlighted the goals of the CLIMATE project, emphasizing its role in promoting climate resilience and adaptation across the region.
The discussion was organized by the EUROPE DIRECT Vidzeme Center in collaboration with the CEESEU-DIGIT project and the StarGate project
