On 29 November 2023 the stakeholders of the Province of Antwerp had a meeting in Brussels to share some good practices of fund matching. Three interesting examples were discussed:

  1. Streekfonds Oost-Vlaanderen, a donation based platform. The supported projects always contribute to at least one of the 17 SDG’s.  Thanks to the financial support of business partners, Streekfonds Oost-Vlaanderen doubles the amount raised, with a maximum of 6,000 euros.
  2. Growfunding, a reward based platform. Growfunding brings people and resources together and supports projects that make our society stronger and more sustainable. The Matchfunding program fosters collaboration between Growfunding-projects and public and private actors. As matchfunders these actors agree to automatically increase each individual contribution with a set percentage. Matchfunders increase the social impact of their organization while increasing the visibility of their brand in an ethical way.
  3. Socrowd, provides interest-free loans to projects with a positive social impact through crowdlending.  The crowd can support a project through buying shares of Socrowd. Then Socrowd triples the collected amount, and gives an interest-free loan to the project: 1/3 via crowdfunding + 2/3 from structural Socrowd capital.

We are also in contact with Finance & Invest Brussels, a public utility company linked to the Brussels Region. With the financial instrument Coop Us they invest in cooperatives with an investment or development project offering sustainable solutions to social challenges, usually through a capital increase that maximum doubles the investment of all cooperants together.
