Gender Equality conference brought together over 500 people

More than 500 people gathered for the tenth edition of Genius on May 17 – a conference about Gender Equality in Värmland, Sweden, organised by Region Värmland and Värmland County Administrative Board.

Author and journalist Lisa Bjurwald moderated the day, with topics ranging from the challenge of gender equality in the manufacturing industry, via the women of the revolution to the invisible work in the office.

Other interesting topics of the day were “An equal social transformation in Sweden”, “Human trafficking and prostitution in Värmland” and “Online hate – a threat to democracy and equality”. Also an Award ceremony of the Genius Prize 2023 was taken place. The winners of the Genius Prize 2023 were the Värmland Indoor Bandy Association and RF-SISU Värmland for the initiative Fifty/Fifty, which is an effective tool that clearly shows how sports associations can work for gender equality.

The idea behind Genius was presented as a Värmland Good Practice at the DEBUTING kick-off meeting in Karlstad.
