The third newsletter of the Interreg Europe DETOCS project is now available for download.

This newsletter covers activities from March to May 2023, highlighting significant advancements in the project's mission to decarbonize the tourism industry post-COVID-19.

The key event featured is the third Interregional Exchange of Experience held in Malta on 15th – 16th May 2024. Representatives from 8 partner regions shared regional Eisenhower Matrix analyses, focusing on sustainable solutions for tourism decarbonization. Common strengths and opportunities were identified among the partners.

The newsletter also talks about notable site visits to tourist establishments showcasing sustainable practices, such as a family-run guesthouse utilising the Energy, Water, and Food Nexus, and a medium-sized hotel recognised for its energy-efficient systems.

Slovenia's Local Energy Agency Spodnje Podravje (LEASP) presented their "Contact Point RES" initiative, which gained attention as a potential good practice for facilitating investments in renewable energy.

Upcoming events include the fourth Exchange of Experience, scheduled for 24th – 25th of October 2024, in Crete, Greece, which will focus on sharing best practices for sustainable tourism.

The newsletter includes regional updates and highlights the collaborative efforts of the 13 project partners and 1 advisory partner from 9 countries in advancing the EU’s low-carbon and sustainable tourism goals.
