Second Stakeholder Meeting in Campobasso on 12th December!
The Municipality of Campobasso organised its second Stakeholder Meeting on December 12th 2023.
Fabrizio Tomasso, in collaboration with GAL Molise and stakeholders, presented the draft report focusing on the challenges and opportunities within the vast Campobasso area. The report presents the demographic landscape, highlighting significant trends such as an aging population and low birth rates. Furthermore, it underscored the economic disparities prevalent in rural areas, exacerbated by high emigration rates.
The meeting adressed issues such as low birth rates, emigration, and economic disparities. Participants highlighted the imperative of implementing targeted interventions to rejuvenate rural economies and foster sustainable growth.
Stakeholder feedbacks were collected through live polls to complement the SWOT analysis, delineating socio-economic and environmental factors.
Stakeholders showcased projects such as the revitalization of abandoned buildings in Oratino and the establishment of energy communities in Fossalto and Mirabello. Proposals for recovering abandoned houses to stimulate entrepreneurship and integrating urban planning were also discussed
The discussion finally adressed proposals for policy instruments targeting depopulation and environmental challenges. Suggestions included the creation of integrated digital tourism systems, mapping and training initiatives, and the promotion of renewable energy to invigorate internal economies.
As Down to Earth continues its mission to foster sustainable rural development, these stakeholder meetings serve as crucial forums for collaboration and exchange of ideas and ensure actual impact on rural communities.
