On July 22nd 2024, our partner the Municipality of Campobasso with the support of GAL Molise organised their third Down to Earth Stakeholder Meeting, at the social Incubator “Antonio di Lallo” in Campobasso. This meeting brought together various stakeholders to discuss our ongoing efforts and future plans to address the environmental and social challenges caused by aging and depopulation in Campobasso and its surrounding areas.

The discussion focused on the barriers young farmers face in accessing land and resources, a real challenge in Molise, where there has been a significant demographic decline and an important reduction in agricultural businesses. The spread between young and old farmer is very large, making the development of new social policy to support young people entering the agriculture sector absolutely crucial.

The Municipality and the GAL presented existing regional initiatives, such as financial aid and investment support for young farmers. These programs aim to promote sustainable agricultural practices and support new businesses in rural areas.

Stakeholders were engaged in the development of a SWOT analysis to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats related to the topic. They provided valuable feedback and suggestions, such as simplifying bureaucratic processes, improving broadband access, and supporting multifunctional agricultural practices.

Stakeholders' input will be considered in the final version regional report, maintaining a collaborative approach to ensure that the report adequately reflects the challenges and opportunities of Molise rural development.
