A new mobility debate in Ljutomer with local stakeholders

The third stakeholder meeting in the frame of EMBRACER project was held on 19 June 2024 at Municipality of Ljutomer premises. The meeting was attended by 15 participants, representatives of the project partners and local communities.

The opening greeting was made by Municipality of Ljutomer, after which the representatives of the Development Agency Sinergija continued with activities.

The meeting focused on the preparation of the upcoming new Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) of the Municipality of Ljutomer and related topics: gathering information on the key mobility challenges in the municipality of Ljutomer and specifically in each of the local communities was the main purpose, along with proposals and opinions exchange to improve the quality of life in the entire municipality.

Representative of Development agency Sinergija briefly presented the entire project, it’s goals, partners, duration, etc. In the following, the past and the upcoming SUMP of the municipality of Ljutomer, which is the subject of consideration during the duration of the project, was discussed. The differences between the accepted first and the second SUMP were presented, as well as what the project's expectations are regarding the revision of the document.

The meeting continued with the presentation of a refreshed vision of the mobility plan in the municipality and priority goals for its regulation, which is strongly connected with the preparation of the third generation of SUMP, that will include the highest-rated priority indicators: Greater safety for all road users; Improved quality of life in an attractive, green and connected community; An accessible transport system that enables social inclusion.

The meeting, also included an interactive session where participants were split into different groups to identify mobility challenges, such as the need for sidewalks, bike lanes, traffic signs, restrictions, dangerous sections, etc. These needs will be the basis for further analyses.
