University of Aveiro, EMBRACER Leading Partner, took part in the annual meeting of the national transport study group GET2024, which took place in Batalha, Portugal, between 1 and 2 February 2024.

In a joint effort by the LP team members, the occasion was taken to promote the EMBRACER project and share good practices already identified as a result of interregional cooperation. It was an opportunity to increase the network of stakeholders, since the participants in the meeting included mobility consultants, political agents, entities linked to public transport operations, as well as municipal authorities. Following an overview of the mobility solutions for low-density areas, a sample of good practices focused on peri-urban and rural areas where public transport does not exist or meet the needs of citizens was shared with all the attendees.

These sparked discussions and the GPs that were found to attract a great interest amongst the participants include the ECOV, a new public service in France, carried out in partnership with local communities, with dedicated routes, complementing the existing routes of traditional public transport; as well as the intermodal connectivity using Autonomous Vehicle shuttles in Tampere, Finland. LP also shared the test-oriented activity related to the Pilot Action that is being implemented in Vilnius. Participants also demonstrated a will to keep informed about our EMBRACER activities and outcomes
