Stakeholder meeting in Slovenia

Within EMBRACER, the Municipality of Ljutomer, Slovenia, organised its first stakeholder meeting on 21 June 2023. The meeting was attended by 11 participants among project partners and external stakeholders dealing with the EMBRACER topics.

The day was opened by the Municipality of Ljutomer and the representatives of the Development Agency Sinergija.

Project manager, Tadeja Horvat from Development agency Sinergija presented the project: goals, partners, key figures. In the following, she also touched on the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan of the municipality of Ljutomer, which is faced in EMBRACER. The differences between the accepted first and the second SUMP were presented, as well as what the project's expectations are regarding the revision of the document.

Meeting in Slovenia

The meeting continued with the presentation  of the challenges of public transport in Ljutomer and its connections with the hinterland. Thus, the main problems that need to be tackled were highlighted:
- Decrease of intercity bus connections
- The number of daily PT connections with the majority of neighboring municipalities does not meet the minimum accessibility standards.
- The inflexibility of Railway. 
- The number of passengers in railway transport has decreased significantly.
- Poor coverage of the territory with PT stops and connections.
- The rise of taxi services in response to the reduced supply of public-private partnerships.

After presentation a lot was discussed what means the improvement of the policy and what are the problems that needs to be solved in first/last mile solutions.
