On 6 and 7 November 2024, the Policy Learning Platform is organising two workshops diving into several aspects of Europe's industrial transformation.
Since the Green Deal Industrial Plan, set out by the European Commission in 2020, policies and programmes at national, regional and local levels have been deployed to respond to the need for a deep industrial transformation in all territories of the European Union.
In the European context, industrial transformation is connected to highly knowledge-based economies and is linked to the development and successful uptake of innovative digital and green technologies. It therefore requires an efficient valorisation of research. The event, organised over two days, will look into the tight connection between transition and research valorisation:
Workshop 1: Explore the policies driving the triple transition—digital, green, and resilient—key to shaping the future of our industries.
Workshop 2: Discover the vital role of research valorisation within regional innovation ecosystems, emphasizing the strong collaboration between industry and academia
Workshop 1: Policies for the industrial transition
Europe's industrial landscape is rapidly evolving, driven by three key factors: digitalization, green Transition and resilience.
These changes align with EU priorities, emphasizing the need for digital, green, and resilient strategies at both regional and national levels.
During this workshop, you will share and reflect on solutions to optimise the impacts of entrepreneurial initiatives on local and regional economies, e.g. leading to the emergence of robust businesses, creating employment opportunities and contributing to a successful industrial transformation of local economies.
You will especially be invited to explore opportunities provided by the digital and green transformation, as well as the need for more resilient supply chains.
Workshop 2: University-industry collaboration
This workshop will focus on promoting University-Industry Collaboration to enhance research valorization within regional innovation ecosystems.
Research valorization involves transforming research outcomes into practical, societal, and economic benefits, crucial for driving green and digital transitions. It bridges the gap between academic research and real-world applications, with a strong focus on technology transfer, particularly benefiting SMEs.
The workshop will provide you with insights into common challenges, potential solutions, and organizational strategies for fostering collaboration. It also offers opportunities to learn about European funding initiatives, exchange experiences, and network with experts.

What is the Policy Learning Platform?
The Policy Learning Platform is the second pillar of the Interreg Europe programme. It aims to facilitate policy learning and the exchange of knowledge among regional and local authorities in Europe.
The platform provides a space for policymakers to share good practices, exchange experiences and work together to improve policies at the regional and local levels.
The platform provides information on various topics through publications, events and direct communication with experts. Community members can use services for free if they need tailored advice on policy challenges.
