Lille walking tour
Did you know that in addition to hosting Interreg Europe's joint secretariat, Lille...
- is the fourth biggest agglomeration in France and the main city of Hauts-de-France Region;
- has 236k inhabitants in the city and 1.2 million live in the broader metropolitan area;
- became a crossroad of trade in the 16th century and was a centre for textile and coal industry.
You'll have a possibility to take a little break from the trainings and workshops and explore Lille's city centre on 25 September.
Check out the map below for pointers and guidelines and let Interreg Europe's team guide you through some of the key landmarks on a short walking tour (please note that the tour you'll do may deviate from the points on the map). Don't hesitate to ask our team for more tips and their own favourite spots around the town as well!
Map and route
The map below guides you around the centre of Lille. The tour starts and ends at Garage (the Project training days venue). Departure is at 16:30. After some fresh air and a bit of sightseeing in the city, you should return back to the venue at 17:30 for a networking cocktail, where you can continue to share experiences with other participants.
The tour takes you to:
- Place du Théâtre (B)
- Place du Général de Gaulle (C)
- Rue Esquermoise (D)
- Notre-Dame-de-la-Treille (E)
If you want to continue your exploration later on, zoom out and find more points of interest, including Place Rihour, Place de la République, Porte de Paris and Lille's town hall and its belfry.
