Once again, the stakeholders of the EXPRESS project met on February 22nd, 2024 in Rzeszów to discuss the progress of the project. This time, as part of the exchange of knowledge and experience, project partners visited Rzeszów for the study visit organized by the Rzeszów Regional Development Agency. The theme of the visit was sustainable urban transport and the development of the hydrogen economy. It is worth noting that some project stakeholders were also actively involved in the event. In order to understand the project activities and, above all, the idea of the project core idea of the exchange of knowledge and experience between partners, the first results of the Joint Thematic Study regarding the functioning of the Podkarpackie Region’s energy sector in the context of its desire to achieve energy independence and increase the use of renewable energy sources in energy production were presented. The presented data included such issues as: current data on regional policy regarding the energy sector, energy consumption, predominant sources used for its production, current situation on the use and production of energy from renewable energy sources in the region and the potential to increase this production in the future. Trends and prospects for the development of energy from renewable energy sources were also indicated. The last described issue was the challenges to be tackled by the Podkarpackie Region in the process of green energy transformation.
Future project activities, i.e. the next study visit to Paris on sustainable housing and the city's goals to achieve energy neutrality, was also briefly presented.
