FBI4EU Communication Manager Attends Forestry AI Webinar

Our FBI4EU Communication Manager recently attended a significant event, the Forestry AI webinar. This event focused on the intersection of artificial intelligence and forestry, showcasing the latest advancements and research in the field. Engaging in such events is crucial for the FBI4EU project as it allows us to stay informed about cutting-edge technologies and innovative solutions that can be applied to our work. Even thou the event was organized by the Association from the USA, it definitely is important to learn from each other. It was a great opportunity to us to get some important knowledge in this field. It was interesting to listen about the challenges that forestry faces on the other side of the Globe. It was also motivating to know that we face similar challenges in Europe.

Insights from Expert Speakers

The Forestry AI webinar featured three expert speakers who shared their extensive knowledge and research findings. Dr. Philippe Giguère, a professor at Laval University, discussed AI and 3D mapping in forest environments, presenting results and lessons learned from the past six years. This session was particularly enlightening as it highlighted the practical applications of AI in forestry and how it can revolutionize traditional methods.

Dr. Heesung Woo, an assistant professor at Oregon State University, talked about current and planned research in advanced forestry systems. His focus was on robotics and LiDAR applications in forestry. This session provided us with a deeper understanding of how these technologies can be integrated into our projects, potentially enhancing our efficiency and accuracy in data collection and analysis.
