Local Stakeholders Meet in Thessaloniki for FISSH Project
On Monday, September 16, 2024, the Organization for Local Development ANATOLIKI SA and the Regional Development Fund of Central Macedonia held the first meeting with local stakeholders of the INTERREG Europe FISSH project in Thessaloniki. The project aims to support Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the food sector to enhance their sustainability practices.
The meeting focused on the theme: “Sustainable Business Strategies and New Business Models in the Food Industry.” The Central Macedonia 2021-2027 Programme, a key policy instrument supporting the region's SMEs, was also discussed. The Region of Central Macedonia participates in the project as an Associated Policy Authority.
Representatives from key institutions, including the Regional Directorate of Agricultural Economy and Fisheries, the Municipality of Thessaloniki – Food Trails, the Aristotle University’s Agri-Food Center (KEAGRO), and companies such as D. Masoutis SA, participated in the event. They shared insights on circular economy practices, the promotion of local food products, and challenges like consumer education and financing barriers for start-ups in the agri-food sector.
The stakeholders will meet again in the second semester of the project to present good practices from Central Macedonia and other participating countries.
