Interview with Navarra on recirculating inert waste
To inspire local and regional authorities and showcase practical examples of stimulating the transition to a circular and sustainable building sector, the Interreg Europe Policy Learning Platform has published a policy brief on circular and sustainable construction.
What will you find in it?
The policy brief provides an overview of EU initiatives, practical examples and good practices from Interreg Europe projects with a high degree of replicability in other municipal contexts, policy solutions and recommendations...
And.... a good practice from INERTWASTE partner Region Sud as well as an interview with INERTWASTE lead partner, the government of Navarra!
Good practice: Construction and Buildings Extended Producers Responsibility
The policy brief highlights the experience of Valobat, in France, presented during the first TLJ. It describes the French EPR scheme for Building Products and Materials (PMCB), in place since January 2022. Read more about this practice and the other presented during the TLJ here.
The selective demolition process tested by our Danish partner Guldborgsund is also mentioned!
Navarra policy context and challenges to foster recirculation of inert and inorganic waste
The second contribution of INERTWASTE to the policy brief is the interview with Raúl Salanueva Murguialday, representative of the Government of Navarra. In this short interview, he explains the national and regional policies linked to a circular construction and demolition sector, presents some activities developed by the Navarra region and shares two good practices of prevention, reuse and recycling of industrial/construction and demolition waste. These are the declaration of the ROCKWOOL Peninsular stone wool scraps as a "by-product" (also presented during the TLJ) and the regional Waste Fund of Navarra.
