Although they could not join the TLJ in Marseille, stakeholders from the Podravje region could still learn more about the good practices presented on the topic "How to promote and support the integration of the circular economy in construction contracts for a better management of construction waste?" during a meeting on 18 December 2024.

What did they learn?

👉 that a Spanish company ACCIONA Energía in Navarra uses biomass ash in road construction as a substitute for quarry material
👉 that the Danish company SMARTpanels recycles end-of-life wind turbine blades for use in building structures
👉 that the company Ecocem en France produces low-carbon cement and concrete from steel slag and thus contributes to the reduction of CO2 emissions (up to 70%)
👉 that in the municipality of Guldborgsund in Denmark, commitments for the recycling of building materials are included in the tender documents for the demolition of buildings
👉 that a company Filiater Eco-Construction from the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region of France is constructing buildings from large compressed earth blocks and natural concrete blocks made using soil of geological origin at the construction site
👉 that in Maribor, Slovenia, a city ordinance regulates the obligatory deposition of waste from public construction projects (activities carried out by the Javno podjetje Nigrad)

In addition, they discussed strategic and implementation approaches in the field of circular (bio)economy, as well as challenges and opportunities for more sustainable management of inert waste in the Podravje Region.
