Sharing experiences and strategies about recycled aggregates
The Interreg Europe INERTWASTE partner, GAN-NIK (Environmental Management of Navarra) and the UPNA (Public University of Navarra) has hosted a seminar on the management of recycled aggregates in Pamplona on September 26th and 27th, organised by the University Chair in Transfer and Innovation in Circular Economy.
Under the title “Conference on the Promotion of the Use of Recycled Aggregates in Public Administrations”, the workshop gathered 75 professionals who has shared different experience and strategies about using these materials in public construction. The Government of Navarra has participated in the conference by the intervention in a round table and the attendance of several technicians. In adittion, INERTWASTE stakeholders have also been present in the event and the project was presented and mentioned several times during the whole event.
The course has been divided in three areas. In the first one, they have been presented some successfully projects in Andalucia and Navarra, such as the ECOFIR project in the city of Malaga, which is committed to sustainable and recycled pavements, or the pilot initiatives in Navarra and Murcia, which show how it is possible to integrate these materials in the construction of infrastructures in an efficient and environmentally friendly manner.
The second part has analysed the development of regulation about recycled aggregates, its enviromental and thecnical requirements, using the example of the Government of Asturias.
Finally, the third part has approached the role of public administrations in order to boost the use of recycled aggregates. During the session, it has been highlighted that public entitites are very important agents for driving forces in the promotion of these materials through their mandatory inclusion in public tenders.
