On 24 June 2024, a new regional stakeholder meeting of the INERTWASTE project took place in Pamplona (Spain). The focus of the event was on the end-of-waste condition of Construction and Demolition Waste (CDW) for creating technosoils and restoring degraded areas. Around 20 regional stakeholders attended the meeting.

The event began with an update on the progress of the INERTWASTE project, highlighting milestones and next steps. Good Practices related to technosoil creation were then presented, including MAGNA's transformation of inert waste into technosoils for the restoration of the Eugi mine (Spain), and Gagneraud-SLCM's use of artificial soil mixtures in quarries to restore dry grasslands in La Crau plain (France).

Following this, an ongoing study of the Public University of Navarra (UPNA) about the end-of-waste condition for CDW in technosoil creation and restoration of degraded areas was discussed. Participants were divided into groups to reflect on the concerns and benefits derived from the study. Benefits or positive aspects of the study included its clear potential to boost CDW valorisation and promote technosoil creation. Concerns were raised about transportation and operational costs, the time needed for implementation and parameter definition which could delay the potential benefits, and the study's limited regional scope rather than a national strategy. Key suggestions to consider in the development of the ongoing study included defining lots, leaching tests, pre-saturation tests, reviewing technical tests, improving the separation of gypsum at the source, or coordinating efforts with the mining department. UPNA will take into account all the feedback from participants.

Stakeholders found the event valuable and interesting, expressing a strong commitment to continue their collaboration with the project.
