Suceava municipality received an EU mission label (Oct.2024)
On the 8th of October 2024 the Municipality of Suceava, project partner of the KARMA project, received from the European Commission the Mission Label in the framework of the Mission " Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities - 100 climate-neutral and smart cities by 2030". The award ceremony took place on the 22nd of October 2024 in Strasbourg, France during the European Mayors Summit.
The EU mission label is an important milestone, recognizing the cities' plans to become climate-neutral by 2030 and aims to facilitate access to public and private funds to achieve this goal. By joining the EU Mission, the Municipality of Suceava aimed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by about 80.66% (compared to 2021), increase local energy efficiency and improve the quality of life in Suceava.
Some measures undertaken by the municipality in the frame of this mission, were directly tackling KARMA’s challenges. Indeed the use of recyclable materials for local production of construction elements in the circular economy or the improvement of local urban regulations and policies for achieving climate neutrality, both participated to fuel the drive for greater circularity in the construction sector.
