MINEV was present at the ACR+ 30th General Assembly in Marseille on 18-19 June 2024, co-hosted by the French Region Sud and featuring the closing conference of the LIFE IP SMART WASTE project. The General Assembly’s theme, “No sustainable future without a just, sufficient, and circular society,” underlined the importance of integrating social equity into circular economy strategies. The highlight was a keynote speech by Janez Potočnikv, Co-Chair of the International Resource Panel, and a panel discussion featuring key representatives from various sectors.

Key Takeaways:

  • Transitioning to a circular economy requires a holistic and inclusive approach, focusing on equity and sustainability.
  • Public authorities are crucial in implementing and enforcing circular economy policies.
  • Behavioral science can help design policies that promote sustainable consumption and production.
  • Collaboration among all stakeholders, including cities, regions, and the private sector, is essential for driving the transition.

Additionally, ACR+ organised a pitch session to foster collaboration across its thematic areas. Four of the five areas were represented: Built Environment, Policy & Governance, Circular Lifestyles (which includes MINEV), and Waste & Materials Flow.

A summary of the event will be available soon on the event page
