From 25 to 27 April, the city of Malaga has seen the official launch of the Interreg Europe MINEV project, as it hosted the project's kick-off meeting. LIMASAM Cleaning Service of Málaga, lead partner of the project, welcomed the partners at the start of this 4-year adventure for waste minimisation in large events, such as tourism, sports, culture, religious events, corporate events, etc, through partners policies for circular economy, waste management and climate neutrality. The event started in the Municipal Heritage Museum with a welcome speech by the Mayor of Malaga, Francisco de la Torre, who emphasised the importance of cooperation between European cities in terms of sustainability.

On behalf of LIMASAM, Elena Aguirre said: 'MINEV represents a commitment to innovation, sustainability and openness to Europe for the entity, involving common learning through exchange of experiences, study visits with other European regions and localities and the incorporation of a European approach to the services offered in the city of Malaga.'

The meeting was the opportunity for the 5 partners to introduce themselves and the policy instruments that will be improved thanks to MINEV. In addition, the first seminar of exchange of good practices between the project partners and their stakeholders took place, focused on the regulatory framework and green public procurement in relation to the sustainability of events.

As advisory partner, ACR+ invited the Government of Navarra to present a good practice on regulatory frameworks for sustainable large events “Turismo Bikaina - Turismo de 10: Navarre region’s support to Sustainable Events".

On behalf of ACR+, Ernest Kovács said: 'This is the perfect project to continue with the interreg projects that our association has been working with.'
