Successful exchange of experiences in Bologna
The Metropolitan City of Bologna hosted a successful Workshop for Exchange of Experiences & Study Visit as part of the MINEV project on 22 and 23 November 2023. This event brought together experts, stakeholders and enthusiasts dedicated to addressing waste challenges associated with major events. This two-day event took place during the European Waste Reduction Week, a European campaign promoting awareness-raising actions on sustainability and waste reduction.
The event began with an open day at Palazzo Malvezzi's Zodiac Hall, featuring a training seminar and study visit. Mr. Marco Panieri, Deputy Mayor of the Metropolitan City of Bologna, welcomed attendees, and the project's lead partner presented project objectives, partners and progress. The day included presentations from various institutions on initiatives and projects, emphasizing environmental criteria, certifications, labeling, incentives and soft policies. Examples from the Ministry for the Environment and Security, Fondazione Ecosistemi, Santarcangelo dei Teatri, IT.A.CÀ Bologna, and Ecoevents were highlighted. Study visits at the "Enzo and Dino Ferrari International Circuit" showcased successful waste management strategies.
The second day continued with a visit to DumBO, a multifunctional urban district in Bologna, providing insights into sustainable event organisation and circular startups. A Workshop for Exchange of Experiences, led by advisory partner ACR+, allowed partners to share good practices in waste minimisation for significant events. The session focused on various event categories, including big sports events, religious events, and traveling events, with examples from the Davis Cup in Malaga, Krakow Marathon, waste prevention at the King Baldwin Stadium in Brussels, Holy Week in Malaga, Franciscan Festival in Bologna, and the Pope's visit to Lisbon for World Youth Day.
