Location of Study Visit n.1

PROMOTER project partners and stakeholders will meet in Sintra between the the 4th and 6th of March 2024. The study Visit is hosted by the Municipality of Sintra (Partner 7).

During the study visit the participants will have the chance to visit and learn from Sintra’s good practices with a particular focus on Renewable energy communities, environmental sustainability and sustainable mobility.

The study visit starts on the 4th of march with a presentation of good practices selected by the Municipality of Sintra.

The good practices will focus on Sintra Greening Plan, a municipal strategy that aims at creating a network of green spaces in the Municipality of Sintra This plan wants to promote biodiversity in the urban environment and improve the life quality, directly and indirectly, for the population. It aims to create ecological refuges for nature, reduce urban pollution (air, sound, water). Protect against flooding and drought and contribute to re-establish the connection between humans and nature.

Reaviva funding programme will be the second good practice addressed highlighting the investment the municipality has been doing in supporting the improvement of energy efficiency of buildings in the territory.

With Reaviva, the Municipality of Sintra intends to encourage a management and intervention model in the territory that values urban regeneration and the revitalisation of areas considered to be priorities, particularly with regard to the rehabilitation of the built-up area, in conjunction with the requalification of the public space. The ReaVIVA Sintra Regulation was implemented as a programme to subsidise works on properties in ARU's (Urban rehabilitation areas). The day will end with two presentations on intermodal social mobility and I4efficiency project. The first one focusing on the mobility change Lisbon metropolitan area has undertaken and the last one with a more technologic focus on how to address logistic in a more efficient approach.

On the second day the focus will be on the practices being implemented on the field. The day will start in TABLAB, in Bairro da Tabaqueira, in Sintra with a visit to SMILE project and the best practices being implemented on circular economy, energy, mobility and community. A dedicated slot with local stakeholders and partners is foreseen in order to debate specific achievements and challenges.

During the afternoon a visit to the Green blue axis good practice will take place. This consists of an ecological and soft mobility corridor along the River Jamor stretching for more than 16 km, from the river’s source in the Serra da Carregueira to its estuary in Caxias.

The Green and Blue Axis reflects a vision of the territory supported by multifunctional corridors. Corridors for the circulation of water, nature and people, in everyday life and leisure.

The Study Visit will be concluded in Day 3 with a workshop where all participants will assess experiences acquired for possible replication and adaptation to their regions, and will provide useful hints for the organisations of the forthcoming Study Visits continuing in Finland and Latvia during the first semester of 2024.
