Partnership Updates: Progress and Upcoming Activities
Following a productive semester and our in-person meeting in Lens, France, the partnership reconvened virtually on 20th September to plan our next steps and prepare for an action-packed semester ahead.
This semester has been particularly dynamic, with the implementation of a wide range of activities. Below, you can find more detailed information about some of our key initiatives:
- Good Governance Practices for Balancing Environmental, Social, and Economic Trade-offs in Raw Materials Value Chains - Activity leader, Municipality of Kozani (Greece): The outcomes of this activity are captured in the Good Practice Handbook, which you can access here.
- Documentation and Exchange of Risk Mitigation Measures for Reducing Critical Raw Materials (CRMs) and Industrial Metals Territorial Dependencies - Activity leader: Frederikshavn Municipality (Denmark): Discover the insights in the Final Synthesis Report, available here.
- Site Visit in Lens, France – Ensuring Compliance with Sustainability Certifications and Green Investment Criteria - Activity leader: TEAM2 (France): Learn more about this on-site activity here. The final report will be uploaded soon.

Additionally, policy briefs on lessons learned by FUNDECYT Scientific and Technological Park of Extremadura, and reports on stakeholder meetings by all partners, will be uploaded soon.
From these exchange of experience activities, numerous good practices have been identified, with three already published on our website:
- Romanian Valea Jiului Society spearheads sustainable transition in a former mining region
- Open dialogue procedure of Municipality of Kozani, regarding Environmental Impact of activities
- Regional Decree-Law 5/2022 Regulatory Measures the use of lithium mineral resources in Extremadura. (under validation)

- Workshop on Business Models and Tools for Enhancing Consensus-building, Stakeholder Engagement, and Social Innovation - Activity leader: Municipality of Kozani
- Workshop in Slovenia on Best Available Green Technologies and Practices for Sustainable Raw Materials Value Chains - Activity leader: BSC, Business support centre L.t.d., Kranj
- Joint Development of Funding Criteria for Raw Materials Businesses' Social Responsibility Performance – Activity leaders: Bucharest – Ilfov Regional Development Agency (BI-RDA) & Frederikshavn Municipality
- Joint Peer-review Visits: Focusing on the integration of responsible, sustainable, and risk management measures in territorial business growth strategies – Activity leader: The Hellenic Society for the Promotion of Research and Development Methodologies (PROMEA)
- Pilot Action 1: Testing the development of open collaboration ecosystems to promote domestic sourcing of Critical Raw Materials (CRMs) - Activity leaders: BSC & KOZANI
