On January 23, 2025, the RAW4RES project was showcased by FHN at a national webinar focused on the handling and management of critical raw materials (CRMs). The event, held virtually, brought together 39 participants, including representatives from the Danish Ministry of Environment and Gender Equality, and the Ministry of Business.

Frederikshavn Municipality shared insights into their work mapping recyclable waste streams and developing business plans for recycling critical raw materials. They also highlighted their ongoing involvement in the RAW4RES project and encouraged participants to join the local stakeholder group in Frederikshavn.

Highlights included presentations from several key stakeholders:

  • Frederikshavn Municipality shared insights into their work mapping recyclable waste streams and developing business plans for recycling critical raw materials. They also highlighted their ongoing involvement in the RAW4RES project and encouraged participants to join the local stakeholder group in Frederikshavn.
  • Stena Recycling focused on the importance of sorting and processing critical raw materials, while also discussing the business potential of recycling these materials.
  • The Danish Ministries presented a joint proposal that explored the Green Transition’s reliance on critical raw materials, the EU’s efforts to reduce dependency on non-EU CRMs, and the role of recycling in the circular economy.
  • GEUS (Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland) delivered two informative presentations: one on the occurrence and supply of CRMs in the EU, Scandinavia, Greenland, and Denmark, and another on mapping and exploring recycling potential from waste streams.

The webinar was a valuable opportunity for participants to deepen their understanding of the critical raw materials landscape and to learn more about the RAW4RES project’s goals. It also provided a platform for further collaboration and knowledge-sharing in the field of CRM recycling and circular economy practices.
