Our partners in Valencia

Valencia is coming to grips with the aftermath of the recent floods - our thoughts are with our RIWET partners from the Province of Valencia and the Limne Foundation who are working closely with stakeholders in the region on river restoration.

The Hunze flows

By redesigning two areas in the Hunze Valley, another part of the Hunze vision has been completed. In complicance wtih the European Water Framework Directive, the plan created more space for water, improved water quality and biodiversity.

Discussing drought solutions in Poland

Early engagement with stakeholders is essential for the success of any project. Our partners from Kujawsko-Pomorskie in Poland introduced RIWET to more than 40 stakeholders in Torun on 17th September 2024.

Speaking with Spanish Stakeholders

As a core part of the RIWET project, all partners hold regular meetings with their local and regional stakeholder groups and keep each other updated on events. On 19th September 2024, our Spanish project partners met in the Valencia Region.

RIWET in Riga

On 20th and 21st August the RIWET consortium’s second experience exchange took place in Riga where, together with stakeholders, we learned more about the Latvian approach to river, wetland and peatland restoration, as well as paludiculture.

The RIWET project went 'live' with a three-day event in Drenthe, The Netherlands, from June 25th to 27th.

On 25th May we celebrate World Fish Migration Day – a topic close to our RIWET hearts. This special day is about creating global awareness for existing and renewed free-flowing rivers and their importance as connections for migratory fish.

Bargerveen’s new milestone in restoration

The Province of Drenthe is not only Lead Partner of RIWET but there are also two areas in the regions in the project - one is in the peatland area of Bargerveen where currently a lot is happening in terms of nature restoration.

First RIWET Steering Committee meeting to start the project
