3rd Interregional Event in Riga_ April 2024
On April 16th and 17th, the city of Riga in Latvia will host the 3rd interregional event of the ShareRES project by Interreg Europe. Over the course of two days, experts and partners will convene at the Hilton Garden Inn Riga Old Town to discuss and share experiences on promoting renewable energies and urban sustainability within energy communities topic.
Tuesday, April 16th, 2024
The first day will kick off with a warm welcome by Edgars Rantiņš, Head of Administration of the Riga Planning Region.
The program will delve into renewable energy support mechanisms and community energy regulation in Latvia, presented by representatives from the Ministry of Energy and Climate of the Republic of Latvia. Additionally, Janis Ikaunieks, Director of the municipal agency "Riga Energy Agency," will offer insights into sustainable urban energy development in the City of Riga.
Following, Pēteris Guļāns will introduce the "New Hansa" project, aimed at improving the urban environment for all. The day will conclude with a peer-review workshop on regional self-assessments and good practices.
Wednesday, April 17th, 2024
The second day will commence with a bus trip to Salaspils municipality, where partners will have the opportunity to visit district heating projects with renewables presented by Ina Bērziņa-Veita.
Next, the group will travel to Ropaži municipality to explore the "Getliņi EKO" project, showcasing circular economy practices from waste management to clean energy production and eco-friendly foods.
Finally, in Mārupe municipality, updates on local Sustainable Energy Communities will be provided by Raivis Šķērstens, an energy expert.
The event promises to be an invaluable opportunity for knowledge exchange and collaboration towards a more sustainable future in Europe.
