The 2nd Regional Stakeholder Group Meeting was held on 20 September 2023. The meeting was attended by 21 participants from 11 organisations. The meeting was organised by MS Teams as the stakeholders attending came from all over the country.

The main goal of this second Regional Stakeholder Group Meeting for Ireland was to ensure that Irish stakeholders have the opportunity to understand more clearly and engage with the SIRM project. Additionally to further outline how Interreg Projects run and the plan for the exchange of knowledge and cross fertilisation of Ideas.

The meeting showcased good practices used by the various project partners. An overview of a survey developed by the University of Groningen to understand the range of activities and challenges Ireland faces in assisting refugees and migrants was also presented.

Later in the meeting, a discussion developed on the support system for refugees and asylum seekers in Ireland. Among other things, the need to move away from temporary solutions and towards a system capable of dealing with immigration in the long term was raised.
