Región de Murcia (Spain) held its first Regional Stakeholder Meeting as part of the SLOWDOWN project, a key step toward advancing slow and sustainable tourism in the region, especially along the Camino de Levante. The event brought together local government representatives and tourism stakeholders for a joint analysis of the challenges, impacts, and potential solutions related to the development of slow tourism.

The session identified the key factors affecting the growth of slow tourism in Murcia. The ‘problem tree’ technique allowed participants to break down root causes, assess their effects, and explore solutions that would lead to a more immersive and sustainable tourism experience.

This first collaborative analysis establishes the foundation for new strategies aimed at integrating tourism with local economic development while showcasing the region’s cultural, natural, and spiritual heritage.

The SLOWDOWN project is building a shared vision of slow tourism in the region, fostering deeper collaboration and promoting sustainable, high-quality tourism practices.
