Sibiu County Council recently hosted its first Regional Stakeholders Group meeting as part of the SLOWDOWN project, bringing together more than 30 representatives from local government, tourism and sports associations, environmental organisations and local producers. This meeting served as a collaborative platform to discuss the potential of slow tourism in Sibiu and to gather views from a wide range of stakeholders.

The session was attended by the participants, who collectively provided more than 140 comments. These contributions provided a very comprehensive overview of both the challenges and opportunities facing slow tourism in the region, providing important input for the development of future strategies.

Daniela Cîmpean, President of Sibiu County Council, underlined the importance of the meeting: "Our aim is to present the project and identify the main challenges raised by our partners, in order to develop effective solutions. Sibiu already exemplifies best practices in ecotourism, but we aim to create broader and more leisurely experiences that allow tourists to connect more deeply with our region".

Following this first meeting, the team of Sibiu County Council plans to extend these discussions to the five geographical micro-regions of Sibiu County. This initiative reflects the commitment to foster sustainable tourism practices through an inclusive and collaborative approach.
