We gathered representatives of public institutions, associations and universities responsible for promotion of R&I sector and assisting innovative entrepreneurs.

Regional authorities remain at the heart of the policy-making process, but they need to work closely with other policy – relevant actors. Who knows better our regional ecosystem? Only cooperation among all regional institutions involved in R&I sector can contribute to appropriate improvement.

At first Monika Dmitrzak – project manager (Pomeranian Development Agency) and Sylwia Bryła – communication manager (Office of the Marshal of the Pomorskie Voivodeship) presented general overview of the SMART CON EUROPE project. Participants learned about the project objectives and timelines, but they were also encouraged to join and contribute to our works.

And it succeeded, long discussion was launched and a lot of issues emerged. The main topics was:

  1. science-bussiness cooperation;
  2. Seal of excellence;
  3. national funding / Cohesion Fund, still seems to be „easier money” than participation in international projects;
  4. foreign examples, how other countries solved similar issues.

There are many institutions supporting SMEs in Pomorskie, the formation of a regional stakeholders group for the SMART CON EUROPE project could be a way to achieve solutions encouraging more SMEs to successfully participate in R&I programmes.
