taas 3rd study visit in ljubljana

The meeting of TAAS project partners took place in the Red Hall of the City Municipality of Ljubljana in the second half of January. Hosted by the Regional Development Agency of the Ljubljana Urban Region (RRA LUR), the event gathered representatives from eight EU countries to exchange best practices, discuss project developments, and review communication strategies.

The meeting focused on the digitalization of tourism and tourism products, exploring innovative approaches and trends for enhancing tourism experiences. Key topics included the integration of new technologies, sustainability-driven initiatives, and the future of tourism mobility.

Following the meeting, participants joined a study visit in Ljubljana to experience sustainable mobility and learn about local tourism innovations. Highlights of the visit included:

  • Ljubljana’s pedestrian and cyclist-friendly spaces, showcasing the city's commitment to sustainability and social engagement.
  • BicikeLJ and Nomago Bikes rental systems, which provide accessible and eco-friendly mobility options.
  • Innovative waste separation and payment systems, leveraging technology to encourage responsible waste management.
  • Tourism Ljubljana’s presentation, featuring statistical data on visitor demographics, innovative strategies for targeted guest attraction, and insights into the city’s tourism dynamics.

Participants also explored the Polhograjski Dolomiti Landscape Park, where RRA LUR is leading projects to preserve and promote this unique natural heritage. During the visit, they experienced the experiential hiking trail, visited the green town of Medvode, and symbolically “reached” Triglav by stepping into the home of Jakob Aljaž, gaining a deeper understanding of Slovenia’s commitment to sustainable tourism.

The meeting and study visit reaffirmed Slovenia’s position as a leading green destination in Europe, combining innovation, sustainability, and digitalization to shape the future of tourism.

Stay tuned for more updates as the TAAS project progresses, fostering collaboration and innovation across Europe’s tourism sector.
