TAAS KoM and 1st TAAS study visit in Rhodes took place!

TAAS project officially commenced with a kick-off meeting and back-to-back study visit in the beautiful island of Rhodes, Greece, on May 28-29, 2024. Hosted by the Region of South Aegean, the events brought together partners from across Europe to discuss and share innovative practices for enhancing the entire tourism experience.

The Kick-off Meeting on May 28 set the stage for the project's collaborative efforts. Partners delved into the current state of smart tourism in their respective regions, identified local needs and priorities, and engaged in fruitful discussions. The meeting also covered crucial aspects such as good practice exchange, policy instrument improvement strategies, and communication plan.

Following the meeting, participants embarked on an insightful study visit on May 29, showcasing Rhodes' cutting-edge tourism initiatives. Highlights included presentations on:

  • The South Aegean Region's online tourism campaign
  • The Rhodes Harbour Virtual Tour application
  • astyMOVE: A smart and sustainable mobility solution for the island of Astypalea
  • NEMO and DIAGORAS projects for sustainable transport and mobility
  • The Island Pass Application for the islands of Halki and Kastellorizo
  • The Atrium Hotels Application, offering enhanced guest experiences

Through these engaging sessions, partners gained valuable insights into leveraging digital technologies, sustainable practices, and innovative solutions to create exceptional tourism experiences from start to finish.

The kick-off meeting and study visit marked the beginning of an exciting journey for the TAAS project. Over the next 4 years, partners will collaborate closely, exchange good practices, and implement policy improvements to foster innovation and digitalization in the tourism sector across Europe.
