Around 130 tourism professionals from the state of Bremen traveled to Bremerhaven for the Tourism Forum on November 9 to discuss an important future topic alongside their day-to-day business. The event focused on dealing with artificial intelligence (AI), its challenges but also opportunities for tourism and the further development of tourism from a sustainability perspective. The tourism experts from attractions, museums, hotels, catering businesses and tourism management organizations as well as representatives of the Department of Economic Affairs and the Economic Development Corporation received valuable input from experts and were also able to develop their own approach in two workshops.

Artificial intelligence can be used in a variety of ways in tourism. Experts provided information on the use of AI as personalized recommendations, chatbots and virtual assistants, as price optimizers, fraud detectors and also in the form of augmented reality or as route planners. Its influence on sustainability issues also played an important role.

96 tourism service providers in the federal state of Bremen, i.e. companies, associations, freelancers, private individuals or initiatives with tourism activities in Bremen or Bremerhaven, applied for the Tourism Award 2023 and submitted their projects, products, formats, services or special offers. These were awarded in four different categories, which highlight particularly typical and sustainable, but also innovative projects. Another award goes to special hospitality skills.
