Under the title "Discover Bremerhaven: Sustainable. Regional. Fair.", Bremerhaven and Freiburg are each developing a "sustainability guide" that lists climate-friendly offers alongside regional products. The contents of the guide will be available for Bremerhaven on the tourism website and in the BremerhavenGuide app from spring 2024.

In addition to a themed tour on sustainability in Freiburg and a visit to sustainable local retailers, a network meeting between the two cities also provided an insight into the initial measures of Freiburg's tourism concept, in which sustainability is anchored as a cross-cutting theme. The highlight was the visit to the Freiburg State Winery, where everyone was impressed by the reusable packaging systems and the associated CO2 savings.

The Bremerhaven tandem team was represented by Franziska Stenzel, Sustainability Manager at Erlebnis Bremerhaven GmbH, and Corinna Brand from the Department of Business, Tourism and Science, who met with their tandem partners Anne Joost and Lina Flohr from Freiburg Economy Tourism and Trade Fair Ltd. in Freiburg. There, they worked specifically on the joint tandem project with the support of mentor Angela Giraldo from the tourism office TourCert.

Both tandem partners agreed to remain in dialogue even after the end of the project in March 2024 and to learn from each other through the knowledge and experience gained. The collaboration between Bremerhaven and Freiburg shows how important it is to work together towards a more sustainable future in tourism.
