On June 4, 2024, the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship, as part of the CARES project (Interreg Europe), which aims to disseminate telecare and telemedicine solutions based on best practices, organized a stakeholder meeting that became a platform for exchanging innovative ideas and experiences. Stakeholders play a key role in the project’s implementation by co-creating solutions, sharing knowledge, and supporting the adoption of modern technologies in healthcare.
The meeting began with a visit to the Academic Research Center AKAMED Sp. z o.o., where the latest achievements in magnetic resonance technology were presented. Discussions focused on innovative technologies aimed at improving the quality of healthcare through remote patient monitoring. In the future, the Center plans to collaborate with the Regional Social Policy Center (ROPS) as part of the Kujawsko-Pomorska Telecare project, expanded to include a telemedicine component.
Another significant agenda item was a report on the study visit to Linköping, Sweden, which focused on Swedish best practices in telecare and telemedicine. Participants learned about inspiring examples of solutions, such as systems ensuring the safety of residents in care homes, preventive solution packages, programs to increase knowledge and technology use among social care workers, a competency development model for social care workers based on workplace learning, and online psychological therapies for the elderly and informal caregivers. These solutions have the potential to be adapted in our region.
During the meeting, technologies implemented by the Regional Social Policy Center in Toruń were also discussed. Presenters showcased media dedicated to seniors and their caregivers and family members. These innovative tools aim to regularly provide information on activities that engage seniors, assistance offerings, available forms of benefits, as well as courses and training dedicated to both seniors and caregivers, including nursing staff.
GRYDSEN LAB Sp. z o.o. presented its pioneering solutions in the field of telemedicine. Particularly highlighted was an innovative psychological tool for senior therapy using virtual reality, which positively affects the mental and physical health of the elderly.
During the discussion panel, participants exchanged experiences and ideas about the future of telecare and telemedicine. The need for greater integration of various telemedicine systems was emphasized, and it was highlighted that international exchange of experiences is crucial for developing effective solutions.
At the end of the meeting, stakeholders were invited to a workshop titled “Legal Aspects of Telecare, Telemedicine, and Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare,” which will be held on June 18. These workshops will be an opportunity to deepen knowledge and discuss the legal aspects of telecare, telemedicine, and the use of artificial intelligence in healthcare, which will undoubtedly contribute to the further development of these fields in our region.
