Stakeholders meet in Cork to develop the FEEL Project
The FEEL Project, an Interreg Europe Project is targeting the implementation of sufficiency actions and community cooperation in the City of Cork and across our project partners in Europe. Sufficiency is defined by the IPCC 'as a set of measures and daily practices that avoid demand for energy, materials, land and water while delivering human wellbeing for all within the planetary boundaries.'( AR 6 2023)Implementing sufficiency can have huge beneficial impacts on the economy and society as a whole.
During the meeting, the Southern Regional Assembly discussed Interreg projects and the role that stakeholders can have in influencing improvements and project actions in their communities. Stakeholders also discussed the good practices that are implemented in Cork like the electric bikes for hire and actions to reduce food waste in line with the National Food Waste Prevention Act. We also looked at the methods to incentivize efficiency actions in the commercial rental property without financially impacting tenants while ensuring they can benefit from a reduced energy demand. After a brainstorming session, we developed possible ideas to be implementing in Cork with good practice learnings gained for our project partners.
