On May 8 2024, the Public Institution for the Management of Protected Areas of Nature of the Dubrovnik-Neretva County organized a waste clean-up action in the significant landscape Konavoski dvori.

It was also an occasion to celebrate the Europe day, occurring on May 9 in EU countries.

Residents and employees of the Rehabilitation Center Josipovac, Mlini - providing permanent, weekly and temporary accommodation for adults with intellectual disabilities - together with representatives of the Konavle Agrotourism Association joined the action to clean up the significant landscape Konavoski dvori.

Employees of the Public Institution introduced the participants to the GREENHEALTH project, the natural values of the significant landscape Konavoski dvori, as well as the threats that waste can represent.

During the clean-up campaign, the participants collected large amounts of waste of anthropogenic origin, where the most represented type of waste was plastic.

The goal of the GREENHEALTH project is to strengthen the biodiversity of the regions of the European Union by improving the management of protected areas as a key value for human well-being, as well as creating links between health and environmental policies and including human health initiatives in protected area programmes.

The clean-up action is an important step connecting the sectors of nature protection and health in Dubrovnik-Neretva County.
