GREENHEALTH Lead Partner joined the 2024 ESPARC Congress for Protected Areas Professionals, which took place from the 22nd to the 26th of May May in Sigüenza, Spain.

The event was organised by EUROPARC Spain together with the Sustainable Development Office of the Castilla La-Mancha Chartered Community under the theme “Territories of Life”.

The ESPARC Congress started in 1995 and, since then, it has consolidated as one of the main events to facilitate the exchange and dissemination of information between Protected Area professionals. Specifically, it targets public administration technicians dedicated to the planning and management of Protected Areas, although it is open to the participation of all nature conservation professionals.

Our Lead Partner – Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia – General Directorate of the Natural Environment – took the chance to activate synergies with complementary initiatives taking place in other regions of Spain, while co-conducting the workshop "How to move forward in connecting nature conservation with human well-being and health?"

At the end of the session the three administrations responsible for the projects

agreed to act synergically within the network of EUROPARC Spain.

They identified a common ground and decided to join forces to:

  • the creation of a working group
  • the development of material to disseminate key messages and evidences on the relation between nature and public health benefits
  • the offering of short courses targeting key audiences
