Leartibai Fifth Stakeholder Meeting
5th Stakeholder Meeting in Leartibai: Insights and Innovations from Poland to Improve Energy and Climate Transition
The fifth stakeholder meeting for the Leartibai region brought together local leaders to discuss crucial developments and share valuable insights. The event was attended by the mayors of Leartibai, who reflected on a recent field visit and explored innovative practices for their regional energy transition and climate change plans.
Learnings from Poland
- During the meeting, stakeholders presented the best practices observed during their recent visit to Poland. The group reflected on the experiences and considered their applicability to the reality of Leartibai. Two key initiatives stood out: the Kindergarten Facility and the Biogas Plant. The innovative approaches in Poland offer potential strategies for improving local services in Leartibai and provide valuable insights into renewable energy solutions that could inspire future initiatives.
These insights are expected to inform the development of a comprehensive regional plan for energy transition and climate change. Notably, while this plan is mandatory for municipalities with over 5,000 inhabitants, smaller municipalities in Leartibai have also committed to its implementation.
The Role of Public-Private Collaboration
The experience from Poland highlighted the necessity for public-private collaboration across various levels. This approach is seen as essential for successfully implementing energy transition strategies and ensuring sustainable development in the region.
Digital Tools for Citizen Engagement
A new digital tool was introduced for visually presenting diagnostic results by region. This tool aims to enhance citizen awareness and participation in energy transition processes. Stakeholders found the tool to be highly effective for engaging the community and fostering a participatory approach to sustainable development.
Spotlight on Ekiola
The meeting also delved deeper into the Ekiola project, a cooperative for solar energy generation showcased during a field visit to the Basque Country. So far, the project has attracted 105 members, with ongoing efforts to increase membership through October. The initiative exemplifies community-driven renewable energy projects and offers a promising model for other regions to emulate.
Looking Ahead
The upcoming field visit to Romania on January 21-22 will provide further opportunities to explore good practices and gather insights. Detailed information about the visit will be shared in due course.
The Synergy project continues to foster collaboration and innovation among regional stakeholders, driving forward the shared goal of a sustainable and resilient future for all partners. The commitment of local leaders and the community to adopting and adapting best practices underscores the region’s proactive approach to addressing global challenges at a local level.
