On February 1st to 2nd, 2024, University of Aveiro, SPOTLOG Leading Partner, was present at the annual meeting of the National Transport Study Group held in Batalha, Portugal. This event served as a platform for the LP to share insights, promote SPOTLOG project, and highlight good practices identified through interregional cooperation.

Among the good practices shared by the LP were innovative solutions aimed at reshaping logistics and urban mobility. One such example presented that raised interesting discussions was the rethinking of last-mile operations utilizing drones, exemplified by a successful pilot conducted in Finland.  Another standout initiative was the EasyMile autonomous shuttle implemented in Mechelen, which can transport passengers and small parcels. Both good practices offer a glimpse into the future of transport and enhance efficiency in urban logistics. LP took the opportunity to also share that the pilot action to be implemented in the framework of SPOTLOG project lies in the concept of micro-consolidation logistics hubs, also learned from Mechelen, which play a relevant role in streamlining logistics operations, promoting more sustainable last-mile deliveries, and reducing congestion and environmental impacts in urban areas. Additionally, LP shared an initiative related to the widespread implementation of automatic parcel lockers throughout Poland, strategically positioned in areas of high foot traffic, that will be submitted as good practice under the SPOTLOG. This initiative has not only simplified parcel delivery but has also contributed to the overall efficiency of logistics networks.

The National Transport Study Group meeting served as a valuable opportunity for the LP to expand its network of stakeholders, and get their attention and interest in following the SPOTLOG activities. Attendees included mobility consultants, political representatives, entities involved in public transport operations, and municipal authorities, all of whom contributed to fruitful discussions on the future of transport and logistics.
