SPOTLOG Regional Stakeholder Group Meeting in Fundão!

We are happy to announce that the 1st Portuguese Regional Stakeholder Group Meeting on "Challenges and Opportunities in the Last Mile Logistics Sector", is taking place on July 13, 2023, at the Design Factory, Rua da Cale, Fundão.

The event will be hosted by the Municipality of Fundão (PP02) and will feature discussions from various participants including the University of Aveiro and the Commission for Regional Development and Coordination of Centro Region, Portugal (Bernardo Compos), among other stakeholders.

Under this topic, various key points deserve attention and require further discussions to better accommodate or plan the logistics within a region. How to mitigate urban congestion, or achieve cost efficiency while ensuring timely deliveries? How to accommodate all the challenges associated with e-commerce growth? How last-mile deliveries can be sustainable?

Besides these challenges, there are also several opportunities that stakeholders can explore, such as creating synergies and establishing collaboration and partnerships, focusing on sustainability by adopting eco-friendly practices like electric vehicles and cargo bikes, establishing micro-warehousing, taking advantage of technological advancements e.g., for route optimization or exploring alternative delivery methods.

The event will focus on the challenges and priorities of logistics in the OP Center 2021-2027, as well as local challenges in this sector in the region of Fundão. Participants will also have the opportunity to participate in a group discussion and co-create a survey on challenges and opportunities in the logistics sector (last mile).
