Vidzeme SPOTLOG meeting

Vidzeme Planning Region as a project partner of the Interreg Europe SPOTLOG project, organised the first regional project stakeholder meeting on June 27 in Zvejniekciems, Saulkrasti municipality (Vidzeme region, Latvia).

Presentation of the targets and activities of SPOTLOG was organised within the framework of the meeting of the Vidzeme Planning Region Development Council.
The Vidzeme Planning Region Development Council includes delegated representatives of all 11 municipalities of the Vidzeme Planning Region to make political decisions for the region’s development. Considering the planning of a close cooperation with regional municipalities and their specialists in future project activities, this meeting was particularly important to kick off project activities and involve local municipalities.

Project expert Arturs Dombrovskis presented "How to promote green and socially responsible logistics innovations? Involvement of VPR in implementing the Interreg Europe SPOTLOG project".
The stakeholders were informed about the planned project activities, as well as findings from the first Exchange of Experience held in Tampere and the involvement and role of municipalities in the project.

Stakeholders were especially interested in logistics projects implemented by other SPOTLOG partners.
A discussion took place to identify the interest of local governments in getting involved in the implementation of the project, as well as in identifying the challenges faced so far in the field of logistics and last-mile deliveries and to gather opinions on using the knowledge and experience of SPOTLOG at local level.

This meeting was a first step within SPOTLOG for an inter-sector collaboration, also establishing closer contacts with the local logistics specialists.
