Stakeholder Workshop on Sustainable Logistics in Rimini
On 13 March 2024, the Municipality of Rimini held its 3rd Regional Stakeholder Group meeting.
The meeting started with a presentation of the SPOTLOG vision and objectives, and the core topics focused on sharing good practices learned so far within the interregional cooperation. A special dedicated session was organised focused on potential solutions to more sustainable deliveries.
The idea was to actively involve the participants and to split into groups and through a creative and interactive workshop. They were asked to propose innovative and sustainable solutions and to discuss inspiring initiatives that could be a relevant contribution to a greener logistics sector. It was very dynamic and to be able to engage young citizens eager to tackle sustainability challenges was a great contribution to new ideas and potential solutions that can be further explored and discussed at higher level.
The workshop provided a platform for the next generation to brainstorm and propose transformative ideas aimed at enhancing the sustainability of logistics operations, with a special focus to the Rimini's region, considering the local specificities. Various components of the logistics sector were highlighted, from exploring current inefficiencies to associated environmental impacts. Solutions shared by the working groups included the needs to improvements from optimising delivery routes to integrating renewable energy sources, e-vehicles, and cargo-bikes, as well as innovative solutions such as drone deliveries, but participants also mentioned the current regulation limitations for this type of technology in the sector.
The exchange of ideas showcased a range of forward-thinking proposals designed to reduce carbon footprints. Following the discussion of the proposed innovative ideas, it was highlighted the importance of continued dialogue and action between stakeholders, including logistics operators, policy makers, but also end consumers (due to their buying behaviour) to create a more sustainable future for logistics.
