The stakeholders of Bizkai territory meet in Lea Artibai

On 27 March 2024 the town councils and tourism companies of Lea Artibai met with the responsible of the Region of Bizkaia to discuss the Tourism Revitalisation Plan for the region, which is the policy instrument of Systour, and also to learn about the good practices presented during the study visit carried out in February by the project partners.

In the morning, Ainhoa Arrizubieta, director of the Leartibai Foundation and Nekane Irusta, tourism technician, started the visit in Markina-Xemein with an internal meeting that dealt with sustainable mobility and transport in the region. Afterwards, we had a discussion with companies from the tourism sector in the region and we started with a visit to tourist resources. First we visited Arretxinaga, then we went to the collegiate church of Ziortza-Bolibar and we also stopped at Lea Ibilbidea to visit Bengola, Bengolea and Marierrota. From there, we visited the maritime heritage of Lekeitio, and ended our visit in Ondarroa.

In addition to the representatives of the Leartibai Foundation, it was the mayors of the Lea-Artibai region who acted as hosts, showing the heritage of their municipalities.

On behalf of the region of Bizkaia, the Deputy for Mobility, Transport and Tourism attended, together with the directors of each work area.

All agreed on the importance of participating in projects such as SYSTOUR for the development of sustainable tourism in the region.
