Hydrogen Looks Greener on the Polish Side (PL)
In recent years, Poland has been working to create a hydrogen strategy that will help utilize natural resources, technological advancements and research ability to speed up the global adoption of hydrogen as an energy carrier. All in belief that the technology of green hydrogen production complements sustainable development goals and the process of energy transition.
2030 Polish Hydrogen Strategy
The 2021 adoption of the 2030 Polish Hydrogen Strategy blends in seamlessly with both national and international strategic texts. First and foremost, it follows EU efforts, such as the development of the European Green Deal and the EU Hydrogen Strategy, but it also alludes to global climate accords, such as the Paris Agreement, compelling for implementing measures aimed at curbing greenhouse gas emissions.
The 2030 Polish Hydrogen Strategy aligns perfectly with the tenets of the broader national plan, Strategy for Responsible Development until 2020 (with the Perspective of 2030), which specifically supports the goals of knowledge-based, innovative, and organizationally superior economic growth.
The approved priority areas of the 2030 Polish Hydrogen Strategy are associated with the notion of sector integration, which represents a rise in the utilization of renewable energy sources and their application by certain sectors to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and greenhouse gas emissions.
The six objectives of the 2030 Polish Hydrogen Strategy that could also help realize the full potential of renewable energy sources are:
- Implementation of hydrogen technologies in the energy and heating sectors.
- The use of hydrogen as an alternative fuel in transport.
- Support for the decarbonisation of industry.
- Hydrogen production in new installations.
- Efficient and safe transmission, distribution and storage of hydrogen.
- Creating a stable regulatory environment.
In the long run, the 2030 Polish Hydrogen Strategy will be advantageous for the environment as well as for the economy, and ultimately, Poland are more than ready for energy independence, along with participation in international efforts to counteract global warming.
