UNLOCK project at Hydrogen Expo 2024 in Italy
From September 11 to 13, 2024, the Puglia Region partner of the UNLOCK project participated in the Hydrogen Expo in Piacenza, Italy, where it also presented the UNLOCK project to the public. The important event of the conference was the session titled "Hydrogen Valleys in Puglia: Real Opportunities for the Development of the Regional Hydrogen Supply Chain #H2Puglia2030".
Supported by leading industry associations and major national and international companies, the Puglia Region shared its innovative strategies and projects in hydrogen technology, collaborating closely with regional stakeholders such as ARTI Puglia, Puglia Sviluppo, Acquedotto Pugliese, and InnovaPuglia.
During the conference, the discussions focused on the region's comprehensive Regional Strategy, #H2Puglia2030, focusing on five critical areas of the hydrogen economy:
- Production, storage, and distribution
- Addressing hard-to-abate sectors
- Improving mobility and transportation
- Fostering manufacturing and innovation
- Promoting cross-sector initiatives
Mr. Francesco Corvace, the UNLOCK Project Manager for the Puglia Region, also shared the region's experiences within the Interreg project during the conference.
This three-day event served as a platform for stakeholders in the hydrogen value chain to showcase the latest advancements in hydrogen production, storage, transportation, and utilization. It provided an opportunity to assess the current state of hydrogen technology and explore solutions to the challenges limiting its wider adoption, with discussions covering applications in mobility, transport, and green fuel for energy-intensive industries.
The participation of the Puglia Region not only underscored its commitment to fostering a sustainable energy future but also reinforced its role as a leader in the energy transition, highlighting its strategic efforts to build a robust hydrogen ecosystem.
