About this good practice
Initiative by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK) Cottbus and the Economic Development Agency Brandenburg (WFBB), carried out in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK) Dresden and the Saxony Economic Development Corporation (WFS).
Lusatia has set a global standard along the entire value-added chain, from mining to energy production to recultivation. MinGenTec aims to promote further innovations in these fields and to support companies in bringing their know-how and technologies to new markets.
MinGenTec supports the mining and energy technology companies in Lusatia as following: Networking, Internationalisation including market development, Innovation and Qualification, International Marketing
First Measures of MinGenTec:
- The preparation of a potential analysis and a competence atlas of mining and power plant competences in the capital region Berlin-Brandenburg
- The organisation of regular network meetings (companies and scientific institutions)
- The organisation of innovation workshops, information events and (international) B2B-meetings
- Publication of a monthly news ticker
- The reception of trade and expert delegations from abroad and the organisation of business missions
- The setup of a multilingual website
- The setup of Social Media Channels
- The support of innovation projects and further education

Potential for learning or transfer
The EU and its Member States are parties to the Paris Climate Convention. Thus, besides Germany, other EU countries are also facing the challenge of CO2 reduction.
Companies in the mining industry have to deal with structural change in a timely manner in order to open up new business areas and new markets.
An initiative can support the upcoming structural change in the energy sector by accompanying the companies in this task with suitable measures.
