About this good practice
The good practice is based on the project implemented under the framework of the Integrated Infrastructure Operational Program and co-financed by the EU Cohesion Fund.
The purpose of the project is to reverse past unfavourable developments of freight transport in passenger transport between urban public transport and individual car transport, and thereby create conditions for sustainable urban mobility. The aim of the project is to make tangible traction of the transport system with a share of more than 47% of transport performance in public transport in 2020. Project is also aimed to support the reconstruction of the means of public transport by providing 15 pieces of modern low-floor trolleybuses (10 three-axle articulated and 5 double-axle). The target group is a broad public using public transport in Prešov, with new trolleybuses deployed on all existing trolleybuses lines.
From the point of view of the involvement of the stakeholders, it is predominantly an authority under the city of Prešov (the city of Presov itself, as well as the Transport company of Prešov city). Beneficiaries of practices are predominantly residents of the city, by increasing their awareness of the availability of public transportation based on electromobility in their daily lives.

There will also be a reduction in noise and a reduction in the negative environmental impacts of transport.
Potential for learning or transfer
The described good practice is based on the project implemented under the framework of the Integrated Infrastructure Operational Program and co-financed by the EU Cohesion Fund. By point out to traditions in electromobility, city of Prešov have this tradition since 1960 (The trolleybus service began serving the passengers on May 13, 1962, on the first line from suburb through the centre to suburb. It was also the last trolleybus operation opened in the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic before the destruction of electric traction in the 60s and 70s), general public may start perceive them finally as a part of electromobility, point out to this fact will contribute to understanding that electromobility is no some fashion wave but a serious matter proved by decades.
